The Common anchors the old town, with skating in winter and shade in summer, and the streets around it hold some of the most sought-after homes in Greater Saint John. Down the shore, Renforth keeps its wharf and its swimming spots, while Fairvale runs inland with family streets from the postwar decades onward. Rothesay Netherwood School is here too, and it pulls families to town from well beyond the Valley.

Housing covers a real range: riverfront estates, treed lots near the Common, mid-century homes through Fairvale, and newer subdivisions up the hills. Prices sit above Saint John and most of the region, and the premium tends to hold because the supply of established streets never grows.
