Real estate in Rothesay, New Brunswick
Rothesay sits on the Kennebecasis River, about 15 minutes northeast of uptown Saint John. It has long been the Valley's established address, with the Common at the heart of the old town and mature trees lining its best-known streets. The modern town also takes in former villages like Renforth and Fairvale, each with its own feel.

Living in Rothesay
Rothesay is the Kennebecasis Valley at its most established. The Common anchors the old town, with skating in winter and shade in summer, and the streets around it hold some of the most sought-after homes in Greater Saint John. Down the shore, Renforth keeps its wharf and its swimming spots, while Fairvale runs inland with family streets from the postwar decades onward. Rothesay Netherwood School is here too, and it pulls families to town from well beyond the Valley.
Housing covers a real range: riverfront estates, treed lots near the Common, mid-century homes through Fairvale, and newer subdivisions up the hills. Prices sit above Saint John and most of the region, and the premium tends to hold because the supply of established streets never grows. Most buyers are families trading up or professionals settling in for the long haul.

“Rothesay is where Valley demand concentrates once families are ready for the long-term house, and I don't see that changing. Given the choice between a dated home on an established street and a newer build farther out, I'd take the established street. In Rothesay, the land and the location do the heavy lifting.”
